Taggart is an internationally-published and exhibited photojournalist currently based in Vancouver, British Columbia, where he is working to raise awareness of the socio-economic challenges facing Canada’s First Nations communities.
Jonathan received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Photography from Toronto and since 2008 has been featured in the Private International Review of Photographs, PDFx: The Reminders Project, Alternatives Journal and others, as well as in the photo book 'This Day of Change' (Kodansha Ltd, 2009). He has twice been exhibited with the support of the Arts Council of Ontario, and in 2010 his essay 'Salt & Earth' was nominated for a National Magazine Award in Photojournalism for its appearance in Briarpatch Magazine.
Heavily involved in the non-profit sector where his work supports a range of youth and immigrant causes, he also teaches photography to at-risk Indigenous youth at Vancouver’s Urban Native Youth Association.
